As seen on theknot.com -- Wedding Officiants
I'm a "second career" rabbi. I was ordained in 2011, after 4 years of intensive study. I went to rabbinical school after many years in the business world because I wanted to help connect Jewish people with their heritage and traditions. I served 5 years as the second rabbi at a large synagogue in New Jersey. I co-officiated with the senior rabbi and cantor on most Sabbaths and holidays and was the head of education. I was the only rabbi for about 1/4 of each year. I was trained in the traditions and practices of both Reform and Conservative Judaism and am comfortable with both. I believe in meeting people "where they are" and balancing what will be meaningful to them and their families with Jewish tradition. I also want to acknowledge and honor the family traditions of non-Jewish partners as much as I can.
I've officiated at many weddings, both all-Jewish and interfaith. Each was unique because each couple was unique. One bride wanted me only to speak and not sing. Some couples wanted to add their own vows. Others wanted to find ways for as many family members and friends as possible to participate. I always emphasize that the wedding is about you and your love for each other. I'm very flexible because the service has to work for you!
